In central London, chaos reigns as fires engulf the city, and people riot and murder under the influence of a demon. This demon, previously imprisoned by the powerful sorceress Margali Szardos, is now free and feeds on the hatred and destruction it has caused. The source of the horror is the Black Air headquarters, where Margali, linked to the demon through Douglock, who was kidnapped for this plan, screams in agony.

As Excalibur’s Midnight Runner hovers above the flames, team members Pete Wisdom, Meggan, Kitty Pryde, Nightcrawler, Colossus, Wolfsbane, and Lockheed the dragon witness the devastation below. Meggan detects a lingering psychic attack, and they worry about their teammate Captain Britain as they prepare to infiltrate Black Air HQ.

On Muir Island, Moira MacTaggert worries about London, but is interrupted by the arrival of Amanda Sefton who reveals that Margali attacked her and plans to control a demon under London. Amanda seeks Moira’s help, and their discussion is cut short by the arrival of the X-Men, who reveal that Charles Xavier has gone insane as Onslaught. Moira brings the X-Men into a sealed chamber where the Professor kept the «Xavier Protocols» which describe the weaknesses of all the X-Men incl. Xavier himself. The X-Men download specifications for a Psi-armor which will be helpfull when fighting Onslaught.
